We are delighted to be welcoming the Rt Hon. John Bercow MP, Speaker of the House of Commons, for a guest lecture on Friday 3 November at Leeds University. The lecture, entitled The Role of Parliament, will discuss the importance of the legislature in today’s society.

The Speaker is an active figure in civic engagement and parliamentary communication, working to strengthen the relationship between Parliament and the public. We at the Centre for Democratic Engagement have a keen interest in public perceptions of Parliament, and its importance to political engagement in the UK.

There will be a Q&A session after the Speaker’s lecture. The event will be filmed, and you will be able to follow and contribute to the conversations on Twitter, using the hashtag #BercowinLeeds. We will be Tweeting from our account @DemoPartLds, and providing an overview of the event on the CDE Blog soon.
